We are a large group of pilots currently employed by or recently retired from all of the major and regional U.S. passenger and cargo airlines. Combined we have millions of flight hours, and hundreds of years of representational, safety, and managerial experience in the airline industry.

Safety is and always has been our number one priority. In fact, many of us have been directly involved in the crafting of today’s safety regulations, protocols, and negotiated agreements. We speak from experience.

We are in favor of an increase in the mandatory pilot retirement age, or eliminating it, and disagree with the positions that our unions have taken.

In 2007, when the retirement age changed from 60 to 65, we heard many of the same arguments in opposition. These arguments were primarily focused on a decrease in safety. The fact is that history has proven those arguments false. We believe that the experience level of pilots on our flight decks is critical to air safety, whether flying passengers or cargo.

We want our airlines to be successful and competitive. We understand, first-hand, the frustration of our passengers when they arrive at the airport and their flights are delayed or cancelled. Unfortunately, new aircraft orders combined with the number of pilots retiring, as well as those who took early retirement during the pandemic, have led to an impossible situation, one that we can help to solve should the government increase the pilot retirement age.

Please join the thousands of your likeminded fellow pilots in supporting the raising of the mandatory retirement age for airline pilots. Let our experience be part of the solution.
