Claims Allege Breach of the Duty Of Fair Representation
NEWS RELEASE
On January 27, 2024, Let Experienced Pilots Fly, Incorporated (LEPF), also known as the Raise
the Pilot Age Coalition, filed a lawsuit against the Air Line Pilots Association, International
(ALPA), alleging claims for breach of the duty of fair representation under the Railway Labor
Act. LEPF’s claims arise out of certain statements and actions by ALPA in connection with its
opposition to legislation pending in the U.S. Senate known as the Let Experienced Pilots Fly Act
that would raise the mandatory retirement age for “Part 121” commercial airline pilots from 65
to 67.
The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois,
Case No. 1:24-cv-736. Copies of the Complaint can be obtained from the Clerk’s Office at the
Dirksen U.S. Courthouse, 219 S. Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60604, or through the Public
Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) website.
